Planning for Crossing The Pond 2010 - Fall has begun and VATCAN would like to have a strong presence for this event! In recent past our participation in this event has been lacking...I'd like to see that trend reversed.

To this end, I am pleased to announce that Matt Cianfarani has been appointed as "Team-Leader" for VATCAN's CTP 2010 Team. I trust that you will all extend to Matt your co-operation and full support. If you would like to offer your assistance, please contact Matt and offer your services - sooner, rather than later! The initial meeting will be held on July 24th, 2010. If you would like to participate please contact Matt before then to give him time to formulate his agenda. matt@winnipegfir.com or ctp@vatcan.org

I didn't realize until this morning when I got Matt's email that CTP planning has already begun! It feels like just a couple months ago that we had our Westbound one. :S Considering that a lot of positions within the Planning Team have been taken up by new people, I am excited for this year's ideas and plans!

As lots of you know, I was saving up for a good, fast, reliable laptop. However since planning has already begun, I have many things I would like to finish before then, including a Pilot Handbook for Oceanic Procedures. So I will, within the next week or two, get myself a cheap laptop... one that's good enough for school and the running of VRC and other VATSIM-related software so that I may resume my responsibility as Director.

Lastly, a big congratulations to Matt on his role as Team Leader for CTP planning. I look forward to working with you to help make VATCAN shine this CTP!

From the VATSIM Forums:

Joe Clark wrote:
We have confirmed that there will be 451 TOTAL slots for the event. We believe that that is the absolute maximum amount of slotted traffic we can handle when also having to bear in mind the number of pop-up traffic that will be participating in the event as well.

As for the date, we have confirmed that CTP Eastbound 2010 will be taking place on October 30th (Saturday). This information should be posted up on the VATSIM Calendar soon.

And finally, I cannot keep stressing this enough (yes, I will be posting this message over and over) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE consider signing up to be certified for Gander/Shanwick Oceanic. It would really help us out by giving us a fuller roster for the event and will also give more of you the opportunity to take part in one of the largest events on VATSIM.

Sweet! :) Any word on whether any of the departure points will include Canadian airports?
